Dying To Help

END of Life Planning Facilitator and Funeral Celebrant

Breaking the last taboo with compassion, expertise, and open conversations about death and dying.

About Emma

Through both personal and professional experiences, Emma developed an interest in helping people face the end of their lives with dignity, honesty and courage.

She launched Dying to Help in 2018 when she began work as an independent funeral celebrant. Since then, she has conducted over 250 funerals.

She is passionate that every person deserves a great ceremony to mark the end of their life. A good funeral should bring a sense of peace and healing even in the midst of grief, as you are guided through a ceremony that says goodbye to your loved one in a personal way.

SERVICES

Funeral Celebrant

With over 250 funerals conducted, I believe every person deserves a ceremony that reflects their unique story, values, and life. Whether religious, non-religious, or somewhere in between, I collaborate with families to create heartfelt ceremonies that bring peace and healing, even amidst grief.

From traditional services to unique requests, I am committed to crafting ceremonies that feel personal, meaningful, and worthy of the person who has died.

End of Life Planning

Empower yourself to live fully by planning for the end. I work with individuals at any stage of life to develop comprehensive End-of-Life Plans. These plans ensure your wishes are known and accessible, helping you and your people approach the future with confidence and clarity.

Death Education

It’s time to break the silence surrounding death. Through Get Mortal Cafes and Parties, I provide a safe, supportive space for open conversations about death and dying. Whether you have questions, fears, or just a curiosity to explore, these sessions are a chance to connect, learn, and reclaim dying as a natural part of life.

I'm also available to book for corporate or charity workshops, and as an event speaker. Please get in touch to discuss your needs.

Death Book Club

Join us for FREE online as we dive into thought-provoking books that explore the topic of death. We have a mixture of fiction and non-fiction books spread throughout the year.

Our club is a safe space to discuss, reflect, and learn about this inevitable part of life. Whether you're a bookworm or just curious about the subject, all are welcome to participate.

Each month, we'll select a new book to read and come together for a virtual discussion. Let's embrace our curiosity and explore the mysteries of life and death together!

Death Cafes

Talking about death doesn’t have to be uncomfortable - it can be empowering, healing, and even uplifting.

Our Death Cafe is a free, in-person gathering where real people come together in a relaxed café setting to talk openly about death, dying, and everything in between.

Hosted by Emma, an experienced funeral celebrant and end-of-life planner, these sessions offer a welcoming space for community, support, and meaningful conversations.

Whether you have personal experiences to share, questions about planning, or just a curiosity to explore, you’ll find a group of like-minded people ready to break the silence around death.

There’s no agenda - just open discussion, shared stories, and the chance to connect over coffee. Come as you are, bring your questions, and let’s start the conversation together.

Attitudes towards death are changing, but many still find it hard to start the conversation. I’m here to help you take that step—whether through one-on-one planning, workshops, or discussion groups—because talking about death can help us reclaim our power and live more fully.

Why Dying To Help?

Compassionate Expertise: My work is deeply informed by personal and professional experiences. As a Chaplain in care homes and a Hospice worker, I’ve accompanied many people in their final moments, always treating this sacred time with tenderness and respect.

Honouring Your Story: I understand how impersonal some funerals can feel, which is why I strive to create services that are a true reflection of your person’s life and values. Each ceremony becomes an important part of their story - crafted with care, collaboration, and meaning.

Faith or No Faith: As an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church, I’m able to offer both religious and non-religious services, as well as ceremonies that find a middle ground - incorporating prayers or spiritual elements that feel right for you.

Breaking the Taboo: Attitudes towards death are changing, but many still find it hard to start the conversation. I’m here to help you take that step - whether through one-on-one planning, workshops, or discussion groups - because talking about death can help us reclaim our power and live more fully.
